Taking It Easy

This morning I have a awoken a little later than usual.  I reckon there is an infection having a go at me.  So I am being very circumspect in my movements.  Yesterday it was a dry unusual cough.  Today it does not hurt like it did.  Besides I feel I cannot afford to be sick this week.  There is a bit on.
It actually reminded me of a time when my dad who was manager of a company said, “when all this is over, I am going to have a breakdown.”  The thing is he did!  I do not intend the same God willing.  But I know I did not make it easier for him (although in thinking about it maybe I did).  He was about to head off to hospital when I ran into the house reporting one of our cats had just been swallowed by a snake.
And what a snake it was.  It was an 18 foot Python.  It was in the days when the ambulance came and dealt with it.  They took it to Taronga Park zoo, it was so impressive.  A few weeks later its mate turned up.  16 foot.  I think it just went on its merry way.
That was when we lived in Townsville on the road up to the local hill.  It was a great place to grow up.  Wild bushland including the hill was our back yard.
I do like it here too.  I was talking to the neighbour yesterday and he was saying what a great neighbourhood it is.  And it is.  I like the people.  We are close to amenities.  There is a large park and walking tracks nearby.
Personally I reckon we have it about as good as it gets.  I know many places are at war or do not have resources near by.
I am enjoying it while I can.  I remember reading someone saying what is happening is like reading a book at dusk.  I get so engrossed in it, that it is only when I look up that I see how dark it has gotten.
So everyday like it is, is a good day.
