take me to your leader

Someone said to me that the best form of Government was a benign dictatorship.
To me it is a good form of government with caveats.  For me, the trouble with it is it can give way to a dictatorship that only looks after those who promote its own cause or beliefs.  The rest of the population or the world is in big trouble.  We have seen that happen recently in Russia and Turkey.  In ancient times it happened in Egypt.
To me democracy is the best but it to is flawed.  In these days under democracy there seems to be a real polarization of those voting.  Margins are really narrow.  Also there is no guarantee that a populace know what is best.  For example, in Turkey recently the leader was voted powers which means they can basically do what they want.  That is great for those who believe as he does, but not good for others.
Of course in our system the “tall poppy syndrome” is a real problem.  To me, it is so easy to destroy and so hard to build.  What took a long time to build can be torn down in instant.  We saw that overseas in world war two.
It seems to me our system is not built on “Innocent until proven guilty” but “Guilty until proven innocent.”  Some are guilty and some are innocent and to me the accusation does not prove guilt.  I am pleased our court system seems untainted at this point.
It is no wonder it is harder to find leaders these days.  We saw Cameron walk away from leadership in England.  I so cannot blame him.
That is why I believe in fixed terms.  It is sad when a good leader has to go, but it limits the potential damage of a bad leader.  I have seen organizations go backwards for a generation under bad leadership.  For me, that is not a good look.
