Table Tennis

Ok.  If I must.  I could be totally reluctant to mention it, but it does have something to do with what transpired, so for the sake of clarity I will go there.
Today was like a red-letter day.  I have no idea why it is called red letter.  It will be easy to find out why, but I choose not to at this point, as I would know then.  I could not say in good conscience I do not know why it is called that.  I reckon I will.  But now is not the time.
If it were described as a black-letter day it would describe what is pretty normal for me.  I write down what I need to do.  I use a black pen.  The tasks are listed in black letters.
What I had to do first up had to do with our shed.  Have I mentioned our new shed?  Let me bring you up to date.  We have a new shed.  It is for our tools and Merrils art studio.  It really does not take much to fill a 6x3 shed.  Unless of course it is like the Tardis inside, but it is not.
We have also hired a mini-skip for our rubbish.  It is full.  They come Friday to get it.  It is a down-sizing thing.  I know it is really hard to believe, but I am not as young as I used to be.  We have decided to do stuff and get stuff done now, as it is becoming less and less likely we will do stuff ourselves.
But all that was done to facilitate the doing of something for the first time in a couple of months.  At 4.30 someone was coming around to play table tennis.  All we had left to deal with on the playing area were the empty boxes.  They were dealt with.  Merril – I think it is called vacuuming.  Anyway, she did the thing where stuff is sucked up into an instrument.  The playing surface was ready.
The big question was, how much worse would we be having not played in so long?  It is probably being wondered how anyone could be worse than what we were, but believe me, it is possible.
I had good new and bad news really.
We were pleasantly surprised at our standard.  We actually had some better rallies than we have had in the past.  We had lost none of our will to win.
That was the good news.  The bad news for me was nothing had changed.  As usual it was close.  I won the first set 3/2.  He won the second 3/2.  But I lost.  He won the third set 3/1.  I am not a sore loser though.  I regularly take out my frustrations with this golf like club and the ground.
One day I may listen to myself.  I go for too much.  I hit winners but miss the table.  Oh well, I will never die wondering.
Gotta say though.  I love it.   Clearing the joint for the new shed was worth it. Did I mention we have a new shed?
