Swim 2

I do not know about you, but I am enjoying this walk down memory lane.  The word I had chosen from the dictionary was “swim.”  I know I am not a great swimmer, but I am still here so “so far so good.”
We had great times swimming but I do question my sanity.  One place we spent ages deciding if we would go down the rapids on tyre tubes.  We did and we all survived, but we only did it the once.
At another creek we were all excited to go for a swim and someone threw his tyre tube towards the water in his enthusiasm.  It wrapped around the neck of someone from our group.  He looked fine but he did not act fine.  This was where our group compassion came in.  We all thought he was feigning.  But we did what we had to do.  An ambulance came and took him away.  We went with him to the hospital.  He was as bright as a button.  We never did get that swim.
I have always found the sea refreshing.  I have vivid memories of a perfect body surfing day on the Gold Coast.  I only caught two waves but they were so worth it.  Being out beyond most people and waiting for the perfect wave to catch.
My bro and I used to spend a bit of time in the surf.  We played a game we invented that has since been commercialised.  We would throw a tennis ball into a wave before it broke.  The ball would bounce off the wave at all sorts of odd angles.  We would do spectacular dives and catch it (or fumble it but I chose not to remember that.)
That was actually similar to the way I learned to catch.  We would throw a golf ball at a rock wall and it would bounce off at really odd angles and we would catch it.  Missing it meant it could go through the bushes and onto the road and down the road.  It was best to catch it to sae the drama.  Doing something in the sea with a tennis ball was way more comfortable.
I could not believe the last time I went into sea water.  I was so disoriented.  The moving water seemed to mean the whole word was moving.  But I can still fish in the sea.  Just not the way I used to.  I used to wander out up to my neck with my bait in a cap on my head.  Oh well.
The closest I go to having a swim these days is going into the spa.  We had an outdoor above ground pool but hardly used it.  It was too cold most the time.  The spa is heated and good all year round.
But anyway going for a swim for me has been a pleasant experience.
