Surprise, Surprise

It really does amazes me how things work out sometimes.
I wrote something about prospectus and wanted a couple of photo’s I knew I had.  I could not find my external drive.  I had put my pictures on that because they took up so much room on my computer.
There are only two places I have the drive that I remembered.  Either where my computer is or in my room.  I looked high and low in both places and could not find it.  I was disappointed and thought I would need to go with another picture.  I thought I would look and see if I had them on Facebook.  But there ended up being too much scrolling and it froze.  I have been putting on two photo’s a day so there were thousands of photo’s.
It occurred to me there were two places I needed to look.  My camera bag, and my going away bag.  I do not remember doing it but thought maybe I had taken it away with me on the last holidays.
It was not in the camera bag, but it turned out it was in my going away bag.  In there I keep things like extension cords, charges, and rod holders.  Turned out I also put my external drive in there.
I sure was glad to find it, but it was what happened after I found it that got me.  I thought when I looked at m pictures on my external drive all folders had been ignored and every photo was individual.  I thought I needed to put them back into folders and that would take hours.
It was only that I spent some time looking for the photo’s I was after, that I saw I had put them in a couple of places, but in the place they were supposed to go, they were all in the folders I had sent them over in.
That was a big relief to me.  If I had not misplaced the external drive, I would not have taken the time to make that discovery.
That is the second time that sort of thing has happened to me lately.  It seems hours are wasted in a task that is supposed to take seconds.  I get miffed but I discover the process has saved me hours.  I know I will always not like going through what I do, but it highlights to me again that the big picture is often very different to what I see.
