Strange

​Today was weirdness personified.
After going to bed early and not being able to sleep after 1am I got up and then went back to bed.  I got a couple of hours sleep then and felt ready for the day.  We had a heap on, so we did a few things early to make things easier.
Merril discovered that due to covid we needed to supply seat wipes.  We made up packets and distributed them later.  Merril wanted to print out some covid related instructions which she did.  She also had a form which she printed superimposing the Queensland state logo on a NSW document (Queensland was the only state not to have such a form).  I planned the next day including two hours on Monday for study.
Merril and I were down to distribute to communion and take up the offering.  Just when we were about to take up the offering a friend of ours needed an ambulance.  Merril sprang into action.  Fortunately someone else sprang into action to help me with the offering.  I was supposed to record the message on video but again someone else took over that.
An ambulance was called, and the lady was wheeled out to wait for it.  I can only think they must have been busy as it was half an hour before the ambulance arrived.  A number of us were waiting out the front.  I missed the message all together.  I have the audio now though.
Because we were having people over for state of origin we needed to go to the shops to get some food.  Before we shopped, we got something to eat at our favourite food shop.  It did not take us long to get the food we needed.  I needed an empty box for our corporate box.  I went to another place I knew had empty boxes.
Then we went home.  Merril drove the lady’s car and I ours.  We had one thing in mind.  Sleep.  We did that.  We saw as much as we wanted of the covid news out of NSW.  That is of particular interest at the moment as Merril is due to take a trip with members of her family for a niece’s birthday.  That is looking less and less likely at this time.
After we got up was State of Origin preparation.  For me it stated with clearing a path to get a settee.  We had moved a pile of stuff to give the electrician access for work he was doing in our shed.
The State of Origin proved to be underwhelming as a Queenslander.  The company was good but there were four cancellations and we had plenty of food left.
It was all just everyday stuff that had to be done.  For us it was a big day, but we know there are more to come.  Still, that is the future.  Right now bed is right.
