Stranded but not Stranded

Well, here we are in Townsville.  My hometown is all growd up.  It does help there has been recent rain right over the area we have been visiting.  I said to Merril enjoy it as it is not normally like this.  In fact I have never seen it like this at this time of the year.  Here we are in winter and it is so warm.  Townsville is warm anyway but not like this in Winter.  Warm and humid.
We visited the Strand when we first arrived.  We wanted to check out a sculpture of a guy we met in Biloela at the motel we were staying at.  He was the guy who pointed out the Echidna to us.  It was incredible how many people were at the strand.  Sometimes the disabled sticker comes in real handy.  There were not any parking spots except disabled ones.  We did a circuit then got a really good spot.
We saw some sculptures including his.  One we were really impressed by was faces as a part of a fig tree.  They looked so natural, and it took a while to see them.  Once seen though they were easy to see.
We then went and had lunch.  We checked out where I used to live.  The house is no longer there and units have taken its place.  Where we lived was special.  We used to have a great view.  To us it was the way it was.  But I see why the southerners thought it was special.
Tonight we see the Cowboys play.  I was talking to the mum of a friend of mine who lives in Charters Towers.  She said just as well you booked as the town gets booked out when the cowboys play at home.
From what we have seen it is true.  We had booked into a motel over a month ago.  I was amazed.  A guy came and sat and talked with me.  He said he had been a cabinet maker and was now retired.  I told him my dad had worked for a company called Wilson &Harts in Maryborough.  He told me his dad had worked for Wilson and Harts in Maryborough.
A mate is coming down from Innisfail.  His bro owns a Toyota franchise in Townsville and we have not needed to buy tickets and will sit in a corporate area.
We have decided to amble down the coast.  But that is the future.  Now we are going to the NRL.
