Steal My Show

Toby Mac sings a song called “Steal My Show.”  I am not sure about the title but I so love his sentiments.
I am all in favour of being directed to someone else.  I am happy to facilitate but feel there is nothing in me that makes me a guru.  I want to provide the right environment, but I want folk directed to someone that is not me.  I believe, know and can do stuff, but like every human being I know, I am fallible.
So often these days we see highlighted a person who is say a healer or a magician and they are the focus.  It may be some have powers they purport to possess (and many of them do have it) but it is all about them.  It is as though they are “special.”  Honestly, no one to me is special.  Sure someone may have something that I want, but I do not want to be them, and I will only pick out what I need, if the path they are following leads to them only.
In advertising for the ABC’s The Drum (and I did not see the show) a guy says something like “we are the loneliest generation ever.”  It seems we have so much to connect us, yet so much keeps us apart.  I lived through the 80’s (1980’s not 1880’s) when the video player was in vogue.  It seemed everyone wanted to stay at home and watch their video.  It was not long before people were gathering together again.  It seems we want to connect, and staying home alone is not the way to do it.
In Steal My Show, Toby Mac sings about creating the environment as the best he can do.  If someone does not show, it is just another show.  It may be good, but it will have no permanent benefit.
To me it is the impact that matters.  I love to be entertained, but if I can be entertained, and challenged, and pointed in a direction I want to go, I like it better.
