Spiders

Someone I know said guys were good for two things.  Dealing with stuff, and reaching high places.
We have a rule at our place.  If something is outside, it is their territory, and we will leave them be.  There is one large spider outside (that we know of) and is in a place we work.  To work, we get it out the way, and do what we gotta do.  It does its thing, and we do ours.
If they are inside though, that is our territory, and they will be dealt with.  We can be really ruthless when it comes to things inside.  We are not like the people in the movie Ruthless People. The main guy was saying how ruthless they had to be.  Tough as nails.  Take no prisoners.  All the while he was saying this, he was trying to coax a little spider onto a newspaper, so he could take it outside.
We are tough, but it is not like we take pleasure in killing stuff.  Except of course the pleasure of a task completed.  However if it is a case of us or them, and it is in our power, then it will be them.  We had a year where there were no spiders inside.  Then on one night, they all came out.
At one place I was at, I saw a really mean looking large spider.  It was downstairs and I was upstairs.  I had my dinner at the stairs, watching to see if he would come up.  That night, I sealed my room with one of those long door stoppers.  Next morning I awoke to see him on my wall.  I hate to spray but I did, and he retreated into the next room.  He did not look well.  After about three days he looked really well.  A bitter fight ensured.  I was the one who lived to tell the story.
At that place I arrived home one night to what looked like a war zone.  I was greeted with the whispered words “there’s a spider.”  I dealt with him, but he did not look real happy, judging by the way he raised himself up and advanced towards me.  It was at that place I saw the biggest spider I have ever seen.  To this day, I do not know what sort he was.  Fortunately he just disappeared.  I have no idea where he went, but for me, it was out of sight, out of mind.
I’ll never forget what one pest control fella said to me.  They were doing lots of areas, but I noticed him concentrating on drains.  When I asked why, he said most stuff we see inside, is heading for water.  Of course they could also be heading away, having just had a good drink.  What he said made sense to me, though he may have seen me coming.
I do notice that I refer to spiders as “him.”  That is a presumption.  It could be “her.”
