Soudanese

Merril chose the word from the dictionary today.  She did the usual shutting of eyes and turning this way and that and her finger fell on the word “Soudanese” and there was one line that said “Var. of SUDANESE.”
Big help.  NOT.  My experience with Sudanese is very limited.  There tends to be more on the southside it seems.  It might be a generalization but most I see are very tall and really dark coloured.
From what I have seen I can pick any country in the world and there are both good and bad people.  We were watching a tv program last night and it was funny but it featured a news story with pictures about a NSW police car chase.  The commentator said something like “the number plates on that car (being chased) are Queensland.  Not that has anything to do with anything.”
It really just highlights to me that there are both good and bad people anywhere - in Qld, NSW and SA.  Percentages may be higher or lower from state to state but to me like any country in the world, there are both.  Leadership though often have their own agenda.
Generally people who come here are often just wanting to get away from conflict and hoping for a better life.  I personally have not comment on the politics of it all but I just know if it was me, there is a  good chance I would try to avoid dangerous situations.
When reading the history of Sudan I am not surprised people want to leave.  Its history is one on coups, genocide and mismanagement.  It has a violent past, and if one is not pals with the one in control, a “not so good” fate often awaits.
I was surprised at the size of Sudan.  It was the third largest African country by area in the Arab League (when not divided as North and South Sudan).  But they are now considered separate identities since the secession of the South in 2011.  Algeria now has the title.
Though if those who come here are like many I speak to from other countries, they would go back at the drop of a hat if things were different.  Often you can take the person out of the country but not the country out of the person.
