So Far So Good

So far so good.  Day one alone.  Merril is on a cruise with her sisters. I hope she has the best time.
Although we are both retired, we both do things around the house.  Much of what we do is unseen except when it is not done.  To me retiring from work is not retiring from responsibility.
I know not everyone sees it the way I do.  I feel it is grossly unfair when both parties work to expect that on top of that one party is responsible for looking after the home.  To me both play a part, and the best-case scenario is it evens out.
Anyway at the moment I am doing both roles.  I am actually all in favour of that sometimes.  Everyone needs a break.  A time when the normal household duties are not thought about.  A time to refresh and renew.
I am going into hunter/gatherer mode.   For now I am both hunting and gathering.  I hunt for food in the fridge or cupboard, and I gather the stuff together for a meal.
I must be honest though, there are some things that will just not happen.  Tonight we normally have people over.  Merril cleans both loo’s.  I will check them, but I reckon there is a good chance I will say “looks alright to me” and take it no further.  Besides, the loo we have set aside for the visitors is incredibly neglected.  Week after week it is cleaned and prepared and no one uses it!  Sure as eggs though, the minute we stop it will be needed.
I have a spot set aside on the driveway for howling, but I do not think I am going to need it.  I’ll never say never though in this matter.  I am not sure of my howling ability.  I know I have a fairly good dog bark though.  I have only used it twice here.  The dogs next door were going off.  So I thought I would give them something to go off about.  I let loose with my bark.  From then on, they were united in purpose.
I miss Merril but so far I am coping.  One appointment down and 5 to go.  I have prepared for one way early though.  It is just the way I am.  How much for me it is a good idea was brought home big time a while back.  I had an appointment, and well before it I checked I had all I needed.  Turned out I did not.  Because I had time, I was able to gather together what was needed (it was not an instant thing, but involved outside stuff)
Ok I am at the ready now.  I reckon I even have time for a sleep.  I took a vote on that and the ayes have it.
