So Far So Good

It occurred to me this morning I may never know why.
My expectation is I will for the things I need to know, but I have no right to demand answers.  When any lesser power has been overtaken by a greater power it is only graciousness that provides answers.  It is not incumbent on a greater power to provide answers to a lessor power.  It is nice to know, but it is not my right to know.
I am a terrible chess player.  But my brother was into it and would play online.  He thought of a number of moves ahead.  He was laying a trap.  If the other player saw it, he would if he could, avoid it and pursue his own plan or make adjustments as necessary.
I have seen movies where a net is disguised along a path, and someone walks straight into it and is caught.  If they had known it was there, they would have avoided it.
There are things I do not see coming.  Things I do not understand.  Any way I look at it, it looks bad.  Yet I will be the first to acknowledge I do not have the complete picture.  Chess moves may be at work.  The loss of a queen may appear devastating but losing it may be a part of some bigger plan that I do not see right now.  It may have opened the way for the demise of the opposition.
To me it all depends on the player I am aligned with.  I find there are few things worse than thinking “they’ve got this” and they have not.  Woops moments can be very costly.
Merril and I have been watching “The Queens Gambit” (spoiler alert).  It is a fictional story but some of the characteristics of the main character are a reflection of some grand masters.  We have not seen it all yet but so far so good.  I have an expectation of how the film will turn out but boy can I be wrong.  I thought Smegal in Lord of the Ring may come good, but that was so far off the mark.
So I can only go on what I have seen so far, and so far so good.  She is beating all comers. 
For me, so far so good.  That does not mean I understand everything.  Maybe I will know someday.  Maybe not.  Seemingly bad things can turn out to be good. 
I’m counting on it.  It is not like a sight unseen thing.  It is a case of so far so good.  From what I have seen that will remain the case whether I understand or not.
