Snow

I thought I might spend today as an undercover agent.  All day under the covers.  I was not feeling crash hot last night.  I really just decided to see how I was.  I thought maybe I would be cancelling all appointments.  Turned out I did not need to.
I woke up feeling ok.  I had a zoom meeting at 7.30 am.  It is out of Melbourne.  It is about 14 people.  I did have trouble relating to what the guy said initially.  He said they had had some good snowfalls in Victoria overnight.  The next time I see snow here will be the first.
One year I did come lose to seeing it.  I was staying at Bunya Mountain.  There was a report that it did snow somewhere I was not.
I have never seen snow falling.  Sleet yes but snow no.  I have seen snow on the ground though.  It was unforgettable for me for a number of reasons.  The chief reason was I got into a snow fight with someone.  They ran behind an authority figure just as I let loose.  I got them the authority figure a beauty.
I may not have seen snow falling but I have been cold.  Though cold is relative I think.  When I first came from Townsville to Brisbane I thought Brisbane was so cold.  Now it seems Brisbane has a few days a year of cold and the rest of the time it is ok.
I do have a theory that I only feel cold if I am under dressed.  Dress appropriately and cold is not an issue.  Though there is one person I see regularly that is in a Broncos jersey in the middle of winter.  Everyone else is wearing scarfs and jumpers and beanies and he walks about like it is summer!  I think there must be something seriously wrong with him.
Though he is from a cooler place.  But I would have thought he would have acclimatised by now and felt the cold like the rest of us.  Like another mate from England.  At first the summer gear was worn in our winters.  Now he wears a jumper and seems to feel it like the rest of us.
That to me is normal.  I am just agog at summer gear being all that is considered necessary in winter here.  Reminds me of the parental saying “your mother’s cold, put a jumper on.”  I am not his mother but I feel a jumper is needed.
Oh well.  Each to their own I guess.  Reminds me of something I heard concerning the wearing of make-up. “If the door needs painting, paint it.”  Though that brings to mind something I read recently.  A mum had no appointments and so was dressed daggy.  Her son said, “you look real pretty today mum.”  She said, “son why would you say that?”  He said, “well I know when you get all done up you are going out.  This way I know I have you all to myself.”
I like that.  But still, if I need a jumper, I wear it.
