Snap

Merril picked a word at random from the dictionary.  Fortunately, my visions of long words hard to pronounce did not eventuate.  The word picked was “snap.”  I so do not expect that.
I had something snap today.  I was sorting the containers for cash and had something to lock the bag closed.  I did notice the opposite end was weakened but did not think about it.  But I did think about it when the locker broke and was good only for the bin.
I have had a few things snap.  Including my collar bone as a kid, but I do not remember that happening.  Apparently it was a brothers fighting on bed thing and we were wanting to occupy the same space at the same time.  He was bigger than me.  I hit the floor.
Goodness knows where I heard it b,ut to keep rubber bands it was suggested to keep them in the fridge.  It is now years later and I am still drawing on that supply.  But no matter how well I keep them I am sure they would snap as others have done if I tried to stretch them too much.
I would not normally look up meanings of such things but I did sneak a peak at dictionary definitions.  It did talk about things I had not considered.  Dogs snap their jaws.  I must confess I am vary wary of dogs I do not know.  A mate and I recently went to someone’s house to help shift some furniture.  There was a dog and it was tiny.  It was all tail wagging and welcoming.  My mate put out his hand to pat it and snap.  Drew blood.  Later the dog jumped all over me, but I was not giving it my hand.
The dictionary did mention something I had not thought of. “Suddenly lose self-control.”  For sure we do hear of someone snapping.  I have actually not seen it apart from on tv, but I have heard of it.
Of course, there is Snap the card game.  I reckon that would be the only card game I know.  I would measure it in decades as to the last time I played it.  But then I a not a big board game of card game person.  I could not even tell you where the games on my computer are.  Though I am sure they would be easy to find.  Some people get great enjoyment out of such things.  I can imagine it being a good social thing. Though some spend hours playing games on their computers by themselves.  Each to their own.  I am just not one of them.
So snap was the word.  It was good to have a word that was not too taxing.  It has been a day off for Merril and I and we have really enjoyed it.  We took delivery of a new couch, mowed, did odd jobs and burned some papers in what we use as our fire pit.  Poor excuse for one really but it does keep the fire contained.  I reckon the rest of the day will be vegging.  Makes a pleasant and enjoyable change.
