Skip

We have been thinking about it for ages. Saying we must do it. Putting aside heaps of stuff for the day it happens.
Well yesterday it happened. We got a skip. Seems like getting a skip is all the rage. On our way to the shops several people have got them. We planned to get ours for a day. But everyone else seemed to be getting one for longer. It seemed like a good idea to us. But we asked ourselves what would that cost?
Merril helped in motivating me to get one. The person working on my granny flat gets them. There was a phone number on the skip they had. Merril got a photo of it and sent it to me. We decided on a time it would be good to get one and I rang them.
They named a price I was expecting and then asked how long is that for? They asked a question I was not expecting. “How long do you want it?” We wanted it really for a week. We had stuff at the ready to load but there was more stuff if we had time to get it. Neither of us are good at putting in long hours in one day these days. We wanted time.
The answer shocked and pleased. I said, “about a week.” He said, “that is how long it is for.” So we organized for its delivery on a Monday morning, to be collected the next Monday morning. And the delivery happened.
We knew it meant work. But we were ready. We were primed for it. So that is what we did. Even though it was raining off and on. Gave us the excuse we wanted really to have a break when we did.
One thing that did surprise was how quickly it filled. Even though we loaded it carefully to maximize its carrying capacity. We know from now on heavier stuff we add will go on top to help weigh down what is there.
There is no doubt though we are happy campers. The area we had been keeping stuff has been cleared and looks way good now. We actually could fill another at our leisure, but we will add to this one as we can.
Tuesday to Thursday are not good team days for yard work but we will do stuff as we can, and Saturday is looming as a good day for us to work together.
As far as we are concerned this is a step in the right direction.
