Sink

It is probably just an idiosyncrasy of mine, but I have had it for more years then I care to remember.
We have a duel sink.  I have never minded stuff in one, but I have always wanted one to be clear.  I felt that way there was something to use if need be.  For example, I like to keep it clear for me to lower the kettle into for making a coffee (which happens a lot.)
I guess it relates a bit to what I have talked about recently.  Washing up is always dealing with the past.  Good chance the meal and drinks were great.  But that was yesterday (or in some cases last month).  One thing about food is it only satisfies for a while.  I can have the best meal ever, but it is not long before I am hungry again.  And there is a good chance I will need to use the crockery again.  If I don’t need it this time, then down the track it is inevitable that I will.
I could eat off the dirty dishes.  There is no law that says the dishes must be clean to eat from.  But it is really in my best interest they are.  There may only be a little bit of older stuff, but that sort of old stuff can be full of disease.  It was not when I had it, but it has degenerated.
It does not clean itself.  After several days it does not just suddenly become clean for use.  I need to clean it.  I think that is why there are inventors.  Labour saving devices.  A dish washer can be used.  In this place at the moment I am the dish washer.  Unfortunately for me it means I cannot blame anyone else for a spot I see on a dish that has been put in the cupboard.
Sorta makes me think I need to deal with things properly.  If a wound is 99% clean the one percent can cause real problems.  When it comes to food I can do without the problems.
But it really does not matter if it was a great meal or one I would prefer to forget.  What it was, has to be left behind, and room made for the next meal.
We have really great food handling rules in this country.  It is a reason there is so little food poisoning.  It still can happen but does not happen often.  I had a Chico Roll one time and I was as sick as a dog.  The same happened one time when I had fish fingers.  I did not touch fish fingers for years.  It put me off big time.
The sad thing about being influenced by bad experiences is I tend to be the one who misses out.  Fish Fingers were not withdrawn from the market.  Most had good experiences.  Not me though that time.
I guess that is a danger of not doing it right.  No wonder they say “once bitten, twice shy.”  It is true.  Bad experiences put me off.  It does not matter how much I enjoyed it in the past.  All I remember is that it was enjoyable.  On the other hand, I tend to remember the bad experience in great detail.
I guess it is true whether I have one sink or two.  The past needs to be dealt with so provision can be made for the future.  The trouble is though, that no matter how I paint it and try to learn from it, it is still washing up.
