Someone recently posted on Facebook about Singapore’s new airport.  I like it heaps.  I want to admire what is beautiful and feel that with that I can.
There are some places though that create beautiful things, but they use and abuse folk to do it. They do not pay a fair days wage for a fair days work.  The workers are virtual prisoners.  Sure, more often than not the workers are just happy for the work but they are being ripped off severely.  I want to admire what they build and I do, but how it is achieved sullies the story for me.
Those in charge are rich – really rich, but so often it is not by virtue of their own initiative, but by birth.  When they are gone what will the country be but a decaying reminder of what could have been.
There is one country in the Pacific that was rich in guava.  Instead of the countries people benefiting from that resource, a few people did so by fair means and foul, and now there is nothing left.  The countries people are all still poor.  I see it at the moment in our country.  Some on the Murry River are getting rich by exploiting a loop-hole, to the detriment of others downstream.
To me, whatever a country has, needs to be shared.  Certainly some people are better at capitalizing on opportunity and get rich.  Good on them I reckon.  However it seems to me all need to be given the opportunity.  With holding unfairly never benefits most, only a few.
I heard someone liken what is happening, as me reading outside late in the afternoon.  It is only when I look up from reading that I realize how dark it has become.  I am rightly doing what I am doing, but it is getting darker.
Democracy seems to provide the best chance for equal sharing to happen.  Unfortunately, even in a democracy there are bad apples that can spoil it for all.  It seems human nature is the same whatever system someone is in.
