Sexy

I was going through my emails and one contained a link to another page.  The article was on rejection.  The next article by someone else was on being sexy.  In one sense they were very different articles, but to my warped mind they dove tailed together.
The poor guy that got rejected was terrible at telling jokes but liked to laugh.  He did a stand-up comedian course.  After several weeks training, they had to perform in front of a live audience.  He was booed after his first joke and the booing continued.  He said it was the most humiliating moment of his life.  He said that good came of it in that he had become a much more compassionate and caring person.
The second article was by a lady and got me thinking about what I as a guy need to do.  I really like a quote she included from a lady called Linda Dillow who was in her 70’s and had been married 50 years.  She said “It’s not what you got, but what you do with what you got that matters in the bedroom.”
I will never be Chris Hemsworth or George Clooney.  I will always be me.  I think it does not matter who I am, the most sexy thing I can do is care.  The caring is not just about caring for others, it is also about caring for myself.
Maybe they are out there, but I am yet to meet anyone who finds slovenly sexy.  I was in a relationship which I am sure glad came to an end, but my socks needed to be folded down a certain way for me to be accepted.  No doubt there are people for whom that matters, but I am not one of them.  I will always try to look neat but if I blow it, so be it.  I think it is important I be the best that I can be, not based on some magazine image, but based on who I am.
Sorry ladies, but ladies seem to be really good at not being satisfied with themselves.  I never cease to be amazed at the plastic surgery shows I have seen.  It seems some women think if only I did not have all these smile lines, and my lips look like this and I get my cheek bones lowered, and other things, then I will be happy.  What seems to happen is they are never happy.  There is always some perceived physical Imperfection they want to deal with.
Merril regularly goes for a run.  One day she was overtaken by a young thing that really looked right.  Merril though, “one day your time will come.”  It is true.  Change is inevitable.  Our bodies change.  Unless you are me, we don’t look like we did at 25 (Ok I didn’t look the best at 25 either)
Despite aspiring to what are often manipulated pictures, I will never be someone else.  I don’t believe I am meant to be.  I am meant to be me.  I will always try to be better (I know, I know, it is hard to improve on perfection) but I can only work on what I got.  If that is not good enough, then if I am giving it my best shot, it is not my problem.
It seems I need to be caring of myself and others.  I find that attractive in the physically unappealing and the beautiful.  It is not what I’ve got, but what I do with what I’ve got.
