Settled

Pretty sad really.  Here I am thinking “what can I write?’  I’ve got to admit I am tempted to look around at work that needs to be done in the yard.  I have found though, if I don’t look at it, its existence is nullified.  Sorta works, but I look up from my computer so often.
There was a song I was listening to the other day and heard words I liked.  I thought “I could write about that.”  The trouble is, I have forgotten what the song and what the words were.  Apart from that it is all there.
Still, it is a lazy afternoon and I like that.  I have just gotten up from a rest and Merril is having one.  Tomorrow we go see a friend.  Sunday is church.  Monday is work stuff and Tuesday we got someone coming over giving a quote.  As someone said to me last night, “my diary is filling up already.”  That is true for us too, but it is not full yet, and I am enjoying this time.
For me, living for the moment is really important.  I feel I can only do it as I have a few things settled.  We borrowed from the bank to get this home.  There was stuff to be done and we did it.  It was settled.  We could live here and make the changes we wanted to.  To sell her home Merril had to do a few things.  Eventually all was settled, and she could sell the home.  It is no wonder they call the change of ownership of a home “settlement.”
Sometimes living for the moment is getting things settled so future moments can be lived without something hanging over me.  To me, there are few things worse than the feeling of unease I have when something is hanging over me.  Better to have things dealt with so that I can really enjoy the moment.
Too often people have said to me “Oh I can’t do that as I have this to do.”  That can be legitimate.  At other times it seems it is the product of procrastination.  There may have been countless opportunities in the past to do something that were not utilized.  What was a task becomes a crisis.  It is probably really uncompassionate, but my back gets up when a person tries to make their crisis mine too.
I cannot say I have never done it, but those that know me know I try to be prepared well ahead of time.  I like to have important stuff settled, so I can get on with what I consider other important stuff.
