Security

This Covid19 thing seems to have done in one fowl swoop the totally unexpected.  It has messed with my security.  The latest I have heard about is WHO warning of a world-wide famine.  Makes sense to me that that would be a consequence of Covid19 if people are not in the fields producing what the world needs.
I think Zig Ziglar was right when he said, “People are basically the same the world over. Everybody wants the same things - to be happy, to be healthy, to be at least reasonably prosperous, and to be secure.”
I would definitely prefer that Covid19 never happened.  That way, I could have gone on living my life as I always have, and always expected to.  But alas, Covid19 changed all that.
It is great to see what people are doing to make the most of this time.  There is humour on display, giving, bonding and generosity.  Unfortunately, there is also an increase in drug taking, really anti-social behaviour, and an upsurge in domestic violence.  Hearing that has made me think, what I am, is what I’ll be.  It seems when things are taken away, what I am is revealed.
I will do what I’ve gotta do for the good of all, but I cannot promise that should this go on long term I will not get restless.  There is evidence of that already.  People are protesting their confinement.  Patience seems to be in short supply for some.
When I look at what Zig Ziglar said there seems to be only one thing that is foundational.  Security.  Most people are not happy that Covid19 is stalking us.  Except maybe the glove makers.  Their share price has surged.  Happiness tends to be a back-burner thing when there is something invisible out there that can kill.
Fortunately, good health is the domain of most, but unfortunately, not the domain of all.  I have it way better than many, but I find even this getting older thing is not a good look.  I am not used to getting aches and pains after a couple of hours when it used to be working all day that gave me them.
Covid19 affects rich and poor alike.  It makes no distinction.  I can have a krillion dollars (I wish) or be a pauper, but the results are the same.  I could say I am one of the unwashed masses, but I did shower in November 2019.  The UK PM got the virus, and nameless numbers all over the world have got it too.
The more I read of what Naomi Campbell says, the more I like what I read.  “I'm always trying to do the impossible to please people. It comes from not being secure in myself and not looking at the things within I have to fix. Sometimes you keep going because you don't want to face the truth.”
My happiness, healthiness or prosperity cannot be my security.  I quote Dylan a lot, but the song comes to mind where he sings, “You may be an ambassador to England or France, You may like to gamble, you may like to dance…”
Where I stand socially is inconsequential, but who I stand with is not inconsequential.  My security needs to be based on more than something that may be here today and gone tomorrow.
