Secret Societies

That is not to say people do not have a lot of good ideas.  They are sure worth grabbing to me.  But as a song I like says “no one of us has got it all together, but all of us together got it all.”
I must admit my suspicion is aroused by guru’s being seen as “the answer.”  I have too often seen the end of such, and it has not been pretty.  There was a lady at work who’s name I cannot remember, who said something that stuck with me.  She said “either it is right for all, or it is not right at all.”
So often, it seems to me ideas that are espoused, are seen to be the be all and end all.  Sometimes there are thousands and even millions of followers.  However my problem is, they may be right in what they think, but there is more to it than what they advocate.
To me the worst case scenarios are secret societies.   These seem to have one or more of the following attributes.
They are secret.  For me that causes alarm bells to sound immediately.  For me, it is so unfair to think that unless I belong to a particular organisation, I am doomed. They may contain an element of good stuff but that is all it is, an element.  In these places Joe Average is not allowed to talk.  That is the job of those higher up who are trained in what to say.  That is of course if one can get near them at all.  I have seen places like this with guards.
They are exclusive.  How often do we see families torn apart because one is an adherent and the other is not.  I am suspicious of anything that estranges me from those closest to me.  Besides, I see my responsibility to love everybody and not to exclude some.
Those at the top are rich.  I have nothing against someone becoming rich.  I do however object to someone becoming rich at my expense.  So often people give everything they have to someone they feel they know and trust, only to have it come undone.  It is generally too late to get something back that is gone.  They willingly do this.  Willingness is admirable, but that does not mean it is right.
I can think of more than one country like this.  The leaders and military live the high life and are catered for.  That is enough to control the rest of the population and have them do their bidding.
I need to be careful though.  Personally, my role I think is to do the best I can.  I care about others, and will warn about imminent dangers, but I am not walking in anothers shoes.  My responsibility is for me, not them. edit.
