Rest Day

18/4/2021

Today I have designated as a rest day.  There is heaps that needs to be done but I am going to give it my best shot to do nothing.  I am sure most stuff can wait until tomorrow.  In fact I know it can.
I received Stu’s death certificate on Thursday.  A heart attack got him.  Receiving that triggers things that need to happen.  I need to see the bank.  I also need to liaise with the Superannuation people.  I have much of what I need but this week I will get what else is required.  There are some things that require the signature of a JP so I will chase that up.
I need to pick up the ashes this week.  We will be scattering them in a place Stuart often talked about and went to before his stroke.  My oldest brother, Merril, and I will be doing that.
Stu’s former home has new renters.  I need to get another set of keys cut.  There are a couple of things I would like to do but nothing is urgent or needs attending to.
We have organized a home and land inspection for both properties new weekend.  We feel it is important standards are set from the start.
Then there is this place.  I spent most of yesterday morning clearing out and redoing the trailer area.  One thing I am learning and this may come as a complete surprise to some – I am not as young as I used to be.   One thing though – I am making sure I drink heaps of water.
I reckon I am coming to grips with the new reality.  Since the stroke things are not the same.  What was possible once is not possible now.  I only really find that out when I try.  I know fatigue is an issue but only recently discovered more consequences of that.
I want to rearrange the garden shed and I still have some shovelings of dirt to do.  I know it will all take a while to do but that is a problem for another day.  I am actually fairly excited about redoing the garden shed and that is one thing I need to refrain from doing today.
I am the one that suffers when I do not take the breaks I need.  Down the track others suffer to.  To carry on would be selfish.  Mobile phones need recharging and so do I.
