Resistance

A phrase that keeps popping up in my mind recently is “the line of least resistance.”
It sure is easier for me to take that line.  Generally it involves less effort.  It does not mean I have not put in effort, but when push comes to shove, I can be seen to have done my best – by me, not necessarily by others.
We’ve all heard people say “go with the flow,” or “don’t cause waves.”  Often this is the way to go, but it seems to me, it is not always the way to go.  I have indicated before, that song words have had a profound influence on me.  Whether the influence has been for good or bad, is up to others to decide for themselves.  Me, I like to think it has been for good.  Anyway a song I like, which is talking about things that come into our lives, and things we believe, contains the words, “some of them we must defend with everything we’ve got, some of them don’t matter much at all.”
Someone I knew, talking about a couple, said that if one said the sky was blue, the other would say it was grey.  To me, who cares!  The sky is blue or it is grey.  To me, it was one of those things that is most likely not a life and death thing.  Personally it is not something I could get worked up over.  The person matters more to me than the declaration.  This was a case where for me “Go with the flow” and “don’t cause waves” applied.
I need to be careful though.  Just because something does not matter to me, does not mean it does not matter.  Personally, I just weigh things up before launching.
Of course there are those that have an ulterior motive.  I have been really naive concerning such things.  I found out the truth the hard way.  It means second guessing, and I am not good at that.  I am a “what you see is what you get” kinda guy, and I have found out to my detriment, that not everyone is like that.  Oh well.  As they say, “live and learn.”  I must be honest though, people seem to really want to come to my aid when I ask for it.  Gotta be a bonus I reckon.
For most things I am definitely a go with the flow person.  As long as we are all trying to achieve the same end, I am happy to do my part, and let others do theirs.  This does not mean though, that I am happy to follow the line of least resistance.  It just means, I will do what I consider necessary, to achieve the best outcome for the most people.
