Repeating Myself

21/8/2018

There was a time I considered stating that repeating myself was just a sign of my age.  I really do not feel that is all there is though.
My life is made up of many thoughts.  Some are one offs, while others are a continuation.  One thing is certain, nothing is new.  What it may be though, is new to me.
Some thoughts are an embryo and not fully formed.  When that is the case I need to explore the idea and see it grow.  This means that, what I say, reflects where I am at, and not necessarily the end of the matter.
I remember saying something to someone that was wrong.  They took it to their grave.  I certainly believed what I was saying, but believing does not make it right.  Many people strongly believe something that is known to be incorrect.  Hopefully in time, all will be revealed. Conspiritualists and Survivalists strongly believe something that is questionable at best, yet they base their whole lifestyle on it.
I have heard of a number of people that have espoused a certain thing, and gained many followers.  Talk to that person now, and they have moved on.  I tend to think of things as set in concrete, when they are actually pliable.  It is one of the reasons I hesitate to jump on bandwagons.  Todays’ cause can be tomorrows’ memory, with nothing tangible to show.
If I am to build something, I want it to last.  A solid home is nice, but what matters most, is what happens on the inside of me.  I heard Emerson quoted yesterday when he said "What lies behind you and what lies in front of you, pales in comparison to what lies inside of you."  I think essentially we are all different, but the same.  A simple reflection of our differences, is why the supermarket shelves are so full of things I would never consider getting. By the same token, we are not so different, that we cannot relate to one another.  What do they call it? Unity in diversity. I also think the “herd mentality” is appropriate.  We tend to do the same thing.  Not because we have to, but because we want to.  Exploring the human gene string has found nothing “out there.”    All our DNA shows only minor variations (significant to us, but minor in the scheme of things).
So I guess I am a work in progress.  I have much to learn, and I need others to teach me. I may repeat myself, but life is full of repetition.  Growing, to me, is a reason to celebrate.
