Renovate

Someone rang yesterday and it was a complete surprise to me but one thing that was said got me really thinking. 
We had mentioned that often guys needed to get together to discuss stuff and say how they really felt.  She made what I believe is a very valid point that people are reluctant to bring out their dirty laundry.  Basically it is not a good look.  The last thing anyone wants it seems is to admit to having a need.
I say it often and very much believe it that the only way to solve something is for it to be front and centre.  Nothing is ever solved by ignoring it or pretending it does not exist.  It seems to me one of the reasons this is such a problem is our society encourages “I’m good” and discourages openness and honesty if it is anything but positive.
It seems to me everyone rightly wants positive but is reluctant to deal with negative.  Sometimes positive only puts a band aid on a festering negativity. Unfortunately unless an issue is dealt with it is not dealt with.  It is so easy to assume something is the end of a matter when it may only be chapter one or whatever in dealing with it.
It seems to me this is particularly so when an issue has been around for most of a lifetime.  Maybe the problem is a bit like some of the trees I have had to remove in the yard.  Some come out easily while others have deep and many roots.  I have a greater sense of satisfaction in dealing with them, but they can be really hard work to get rid of.
No matter how they are dealt with though there is no doubt I am better off with them gone.  I am free to make the area as I desire instead of being limited.
