Relationships

For me the most important part of life are relationships.  For sure some are draining but if it is right for me, there is no way I would be better off without them.  I know I am better off with them.
For me life is not all about comfort and ease.  That may be what I strive for but there is more than a lifetime of work in that for me.  It seems to me, that even when comfort and ease is achieved, other problems pop up.  I only need to look at affluent countries to see that.  Life may be made easier, but that just gives a chance for me to move on to some other pressing issue.
They reckon if I find a perfect anything do not go there because it will no longer be perfect.  Everyone without exception is a work in progress.  It does not matter if it is acknowledged or not.  A person saying they are not shows they are.
This goes a long way back, but I remember writing in an assignment, “I could go on and on” and the teacher writing in the margin “you do, you do.”  I know I may consider some draining but there are some that would consider me draining.
I admit I am a bit of a sponge.  I absorb a lot.  Some may find me draining.  But maybe this is a chance to let my compassion shine through.  “Their problem.”   I do not know I did very well there.
Merril and I often pray together.  At the end of it I sometimes carry on and Merril sees right through me and does other things.  Today she said, “He’s got all eternity to hear you.”  My comment implied that was fortunate for Him.
But the truth is I do not consider it relationship when it is all one way.  I heard recently someone ask “why is it when we talk to God we are seen as praying, but when God talks to us, we are considered schizophrenic?
I consider something that is all one way, not to be relationship.  I may write a thesis on say Obama and do a pile of research.  I find out where he was born and has lived and what motivates him.  Yet for all that, I cannot claim to know him but only claim to know about him.  Only when I spend time with him do I know him.  The more time I spend with him, the better I would know him.
Most people I pass as a ship in the night.  With others I form a relationship, as we mutually get to know each other better.
