Rejoice

Wow.  It was Merril’s turn to randomly pick a word in the dictionary.  She did the usual and her finger pointed to the word “rejoice.”  It means “to cause joy to, make glad.” (Aust. Concise Oxford).  Merriam-Webster is very similar, “to give joy to, gladden.”
A number of dictionaries talked about happiness.  To me while happiness is similar it is not the same.  I reckon I can have a deep joy in even a seemingly sad situation. But I don’t know I can be happy in a sad situation.
A book by an author I love to read (C.S.Lewis) is called “Surprised by Joy.”  What I find most amazing is I experience joy in the most mundane.
More than once I have been washing the dishes while listening to music and found myself dancing (or more correctly moving my arms around in a dancing like fashion.)  I think our fish finds it entertaining anyway.  At other times I may be working in the yard.  Again listening to music.  I sort of convulse (which in my current experience is dance).  It has nothing  to do with the mundane task I am doing, and everything to do with the peace I feel being in the right place at the right time.
Joy to me is not necessitated upon having great power or wealth.   It can be experienced by the least and the greatest.  Common places to me have great potential for causing a person to rejoice.
Often it seems some think they will be content “when”.  But to me the only when I have is now.  I plan, but the only certainty about my plans in this life is uncertainty.  I can achieve what I want to achieve and see it rendered seemingly meaningless overnight. Or I can never achieve what I want and see hope deferred.
Happiness depends on happenings.  Rejoicing comes from guarantees.  Now or future or both.
