Reconcile

How quickly it seems to come around each time.  Maybe it is more quickly than it should.  I am saying it is my turn to pick a word from the dictionary, but perhaps it is not.  No matter though as I am the only one here, so I am making an executive decision.
Hmmm interesting.  Well maybe to a percent of people.  My finger fell on the word “reconcile.”  It seems totally appropriate given the season we are celebrating.
It has a fair few meanings, but what comes to mind was what I used to do at work.  It was the monthly reconciliation.  I would need to account for all income and expenditure within that month.  Hopefully we showed a profit.  There were lean months when the students were on holidays, and bumper months when the students had exams.  October was the best and January was the worst.  Sometimes it was the yearly reconciliation that told the story.  The lean months were more than compensated for by the bumper months and a profit for the year was made.
The one that first came to mind for me had to do with relationships.  Marriage is the biggy but I see estrangement all the time.  In fact, estrangement seems to be almost the default position in relationships.
At the start only the good is often seen.  But I seem to very quickly learn that in any life all is not as it seems.  There are what are considered oddities about anyone.  There are oddities about me.  In no case is the way I do something the way someone else would do it.  Often I can act like my way is the only way.  But through a combination of methodologies best outcomes are often achieved.  My way may get something done, but it does not mean it is the best way.
Too often it seems minors become majors and there is allowed to come an irreconcilable rift.  It is unfortunate and often unnecessary.  When allowed to happen the ability to influence is diminished.
In any conflict I always see diverse nations under the command of one leader.  I am reminded of the New Zealand armed forces.  They had to march second behind the US forces who’s moto was “second to none.”  They carried a big banner that proclaimed that.  The New Zealanders did not have a banner, so they carried a big sheet which had written across it “none.”
Easter is all about reconciliation.  God reconciling man to himself.  God doing what no action of man could achieve.  It amazes me this word comes up at this time.  I love holidays, I love easter eggs, and I love the reason for the season.
For reconciliation to occur, diversity must be allowed for.  Just because my way may be different, does not mean it is wrong.  That goes for many things.  It is the goal that matters.  Heading in the same direction.  It is inevitable there will be a divergence of opinion of the best way to get there, but what matters most is we are all trying to get there following the same ground rules.
