Reaping

25/10/2018

“We reap what we sow.” I think that is an old saying.  Actually I think it is a really, really old saying.  Still I guess its age is a moot point.
I did see someone say something was a moo point, when they meant it was a moot point.  When questioned as to what a moo point was, they said it represented a cow’s opinion.  Personally, I do not know where to go with that one.
Still, reaping what I sow seems to be in everything I do.  When I wash up, the sowing was dirty dishes and the reaping is clean dishes.  The same goes for cloths.  Sowing is dirty cloths, and reaping from the washing machine is clean cloths.  Both of these seem to be never ending cycles.  At work sowing seems to be the initial confusion or dis-order, and the reaping is the order I hopefully bring.  When going for a home loan, the sowing seems to be what I bring to the table, while the reaping seems to be getting the home loan or otherwise.
It sees this principle is everywhere.  It can be negative too.  If I sow criminal acts, I risk reaping being locked away.  If I sow slackness, I will reap slackness in myself and others.  Another saying that seems to be relevant is, “like attracts like.”
In this day and age, there seems to be a growing reluctance to step up to the plate.  It is not endemic yet, but a tsunami seems to be growing.  Personally, I cannot blame people for an unwillingness to lead.  Our national past time seems to be pulling down.  No sooner does someone arise, then I take it upon myself to bring them undone.  Another way of putting it that seems to be the flavour of the month, is no sooner is a head above the trench, then it is target.
If I sow targeting another, then I reap a vacuum.  Worse still, I risk reaping getting someone who really does not care what I think or want.  They just want power, and their reaping is the elimination of all opposition.
I am really glad though, that the cycle can be broken.  Just because I was something, does not mean I will have to remain that way. I love hearing about people that break the mould.  I hear it all the time.  Someone from the wrong side of the tracks makes good.  Even in my own case, I could reap woe is me, or I can reap using what I got for my good, and the good of other.
I am not destined for either glory in this life, or the scrap heap.  The choice is mine.   I will reap what I sow.  It may take hard work, or what I am big on, an intervention, or both, but it can happen.
I guess it is a case of, what do I want?  I will reap something if I go for it, or as they say “die trying.”
