Reading

Like many I think, I like to read.  Fiction and non-fiction seem to be the main areas I like.  In other words, anything I consider well written.
I know that often things are a slog but sometimes it is like being on a roll.  I remember reading a book I considered good and coming to a section I considered inspired.  Not in a sense of writing at the behest of a higher power but in the sense of thoughts coming together and what is written flowing.  I commented to Merril I really thought the part was different.  While the rest was good, this part seemed different.
I feel I know what that is like.  There are times I enjoy writing and there are other times it seems stuff is so clear I have to race to get it down.
I tend not to say what I consider good as that is something that differs for all.  I may find something amazing as it is the right thing at the right time for me, while another may consider it ho hum.  That happened with a movie Merril and I thought was totally fantastic.  Others had dinner out with us and then we all went and saw the movie together.  They thought it was good but not the fantastic “you gotta see this” that Merril and I thought it was.
I tend not to go for stuff where someone rails against something.  Often I may agree with them, but for me it is the human condition that is the problem for mankind and not some specific act or action alone.
I have raved in the past about the Narnia series by C.S. Lewis.  It is the only set of books I know of I have read twice.  Like so much these days they are children’s stories which adults can get heaps from.
I told Merril I had finished the book I had been reading and loved and she gave me another book she picked up.  Again I am loving it. I tend to mark stuff I find enlightening in a highlighter pen.  This one is getting the treatment as there seems to be so much I like in it.  After highlighting I tend to record elsewhere what I like.
I think I got my love of books and music from my older brother.  He spent heaps of time with me and much that he loved I embraced.
I reckon I will go on reading till the day I die.  It is rare I read something in one sitting.  I may have something on the go for a number of weeks and read it in part and have a good think about it.  When it is something I like, I tend to get caught up in that world.
