Random Hardness

Someone I know said “when all this is over, I’m going to have a breakdown.”
They were the head of an organization and others were looking to them to have it together and provide a way out of the current situation.  Fortunately, it was one that although difficult did have a workable solution.  When it was solved, that person had a breakdown.
I thought of that because I was thinking how everyone is really damaged in some way.  I thought of the boy with his fingers in the hole in the dyke.  That had a happy ending.  It was a story.  Life can be is complicated though.
Many it seems refuse to acknowledge that.  They are considered lucky if they make it through life without having a shortcoming exposed.  In the short term they get away with it.  I question if anyone gets away with it in the long term though.
For me it was really interesting hearing the perspective of another generation.  An older person was extoling the virtues of the lifestyle they grew up in.  Out playing and not trapped indoors on devices.  A younger person said I’m going to put it all out there.  The older generation had issues they refused to acknowledge.  They acted like all was well without bringing up and dealing with difficulties being experienced personally.
What they said made sense to me.  Personally, I think the pendulum has swung too far the other way, but there is a middle ground.  Now it seems it is all out there without answers but offering what is really clayton answers.
I think the hardest people to influence are the ones who act like they always have it all together.  I am reminded of the hole in the dyke.  The dyke really has many holes.  One being covered and fixed does not fix the many others and will not prevent the dam bursting.
That is why I seek a solution to all, rather than some.  Life is hard.  To me it is hardness with purpose rather than random hardness guaranteed not to end well.
