Providers

They (“they” seem to know stuff) say that if you have been with the one crowd for two years, there is a chance that you could now get a better deal.  In every instance Merril and I have found that to be true.
We have been with a TV provider for a number of years, and were happy to pay what we have been paying.  It has been amazing how with phone calls made to them, we have had stuff added at no extra cost.  We have got what we wanted and more.
Recently Merril and I changed electricity provider.  We were not unhappy with the service we had got, but our research showed us we could get more with someone else.  So we changed.  Only after we changed did the original provider ring offering a better deal.  It was too late.  The horse had bolted.  Besides, we were not inclined to go with someone who only contacted us after the event.
I have a problem with that.  I don’t know that any of these companies are interested in us, but they are interested in our money.  I really feel that we need to look out for ourselves, as in this instance, no one else is.  There are other times when people care about people, but it seems this is not one of those times.
My thinking is that if people want to keep my business, they need to be pro-active.  It is pointless contacting us after the event and offering us a better deal.  If we had been contacted with a better deal prior to leaving, we may not have left.  So instead of getting something, they get nothing.
Recently Merril and I have been looking at our health insurance.  Australia muddies the water a bit because we have a free hospital system.  If you need help now you will get it.  It is elective surgeries there are long waiting lists for.  If it is not going to kill you then you can wait, seems to be the thinking.
We have stuck with private health insurance as it means we can get the doctor of our choice and get what we want now.  When I was young, I paid into such things but did not really see the benefits, as in my mind, I was invincible.  It seems sad but true, that in the latter part of my life, health issues assume more importance.
We have done our homework, and have found we can get more for less elsewhere.  We know that this cannot be taken lightly.  We have had to make sure the new cover includes items we will need.  It is a bit of a maze.  I have forgone pregnancy cover as I don’t think I will need it.
The internet is in our sights.  In all cases though, it is important we get what we need.  It is pointless getting something cheaper, and being without what is required.  I guess getting what is required is essential for everything.
