Prospectus

It was my turn to pick a word for the dictionary again and this time it was “prospectus” as in “printed document describing chief features of school, commercial enterprise, forth coming book etc.”
I did not last at James Cook Uni.  I don’t think they would have asked what the chief feature of the school was.  I would have told them the Salmon sandwiches I bought at the canteen.  I loved em.  They were definitely the most memorable part of the uni for me.
Little did I realize I would end up working at a uni.  Not as a professor or nothing though.  If given the chance I reckon I would have made a good mad professor.  Even better if I was not expected to know anything about anything.
I am sure that those that studied there would have a different idea of the uni’s chief feature.  As a staff member I liked how we all worked together.  There was a real desire to promote the establishment.  I did think their ads were pretty good too.
One year I went to town big time promoting the supporting of disadvantaged students.  They could get stuff cheaper, and events were held to raise money for the cause.  The one I was right into was called the QUT Cup, and it was held in conjunction with the Melbourne Cup.
We won it that year.  Just as well as I do not think we would have again.  Years following it became a big thing, and so much trouble with costumes and activities went into it.  There is no doubt I will forget what all our staff did, but some I remember.  The feast provided, one fellow serving the coffee and another making a board game we all played.  I got sponsorship from Subway and took photo’s along with making a magazine.  Trouble was gone too to make the fascinators’ that sat on heads, and we had puppets.
I will never forget two photo’s I had taken in particular.  They were the same people in the same place, but I asked for two photo’s.  A cross section of the crowd where they were all frowning, and a happy section of the crowd where they were all smiling.
If I were doing a prospectus of where I worked I’d say “great place.  The people are keen to enhance its reputation.”  I reckon I lived a fairly fortunately life when it came to the environments I have worked and the people I have worked with.
