Proof Reader

I reckon I need a proof-reader.  I am amazed the number of times I re-read stuff and see something that needs to be changed.  Sometimes though it needs to be changed after it has been posted.  I read it and think “that is wrong.”  Embarrassing but necessary to change.
Merril is a bit of a proof-reader to me.  I often send her stuff and she sees what I haven’t.  I did a magazine thing.  Looked ok to me.  I printed out 30.  Merril read it and showed me something that was wrong.  What to do?  Because I had printed out stuff I manually changed each one.  Does not look as good but saved money.
There are times I just don’t see things.  I can labour on something and not see why it is not working.  I give it to someone ese and seemingly in an instant they see the problem and I can move on.
I think that is one of the reasons why we need each other.  I have blind spots.  No matter what, I don’t see why.  Someone else does.  I am indebted to that person big time.  When it is just me, stuff is out there, and others may get the general idea but it is not put the best way.
I do remember proposing something in writing.  I thought it was pretty good and it was.  I gave it to others to investigate and I really liked what they came up with.  Mine was good but ours was better.  Sometimes what is combined is better than what is individual.
There are many situations where individual is the only option.  Things rise or fall on what I do.  That is just the way it is.  But where I can do it, I rather have input from others.
I am not though talking about when I was singing a song I had written and had a backing band.  I told the audience if I was going down, they were going down with me.  That is a really bad example.  In fact, it is not an example.  Please forget I said it.
Sometimes I think good is the enemy of the best.  Good is always better than bad for sure.  But I need to be careful I do not settle for good when better beckons.  I reckon good is a great fall-back position.  I certainly prefer to have a fall-back position than to not have one.  Plan A is always preferred, but Plan B is great to have.
Where am I going with this?  Goodness knows.  Or should I say “betterness knows.”  I do know though a proof-reader is desirable.  If you see a mistake, please tell me.  Quietly.  Just between you and me.
