Prepared

I am a great believer in preparing.  Admittedly sometimes I do not know what I am preparing for.  But I go with my bent.
It is really easy to wile away the time.  TV has always been good for that.  I could spend hours chatting on the computer.  It would be midnight and I wondered where the hours had gone.  I first thought maybe I was doing too much of it when my thoughts started to appear in my head on a scroll bar.  Social Media is a good one for robbing time.  Mobile phones with the internet are addictive.
At times it feels right to do nothing.  Veg.  They reckon a battery has the capacity to charge and to run out of charge.  There are times I definitely need to recharge.  But when my battery is full any recharging is a waste.  I can’t be any fuller then full.
I always looked forward to knock off time at work and the week-ends.  We had four weeks holiday.  I generally planned very different things for the holidays.  But even then my bent was at play. 
I am a very structured person.  There are others who are very unstructured.  My mum was like that.  I would see that things needed to be done within a certain timeframe and wonder how it was going to happen.  Then it would happen.  It was like miraculous.  I quickly learned that we may have the same goals but very different ways of getting there.
I do not think I am as structured as Stuart was though.  He was always keen to help me.    I had over 10,000 stamps that needed sorting.  I thought it was going to take perhaps years.  He did it in two weeks or so.  Someone commented they had never seen someone so prepared for whatever needed to be discussed.  I am a bit like that but in some ways nothing like that.
I have since found it runs in the family.  I have had a bit to do with my oldest brother lately and noticed how well prepared he is.  I find it great as sometimes he highlights things that need to happen, and I was going to make happen eventually.  With him around they happen now.
They reckon people make their own luck.  I guess that is what preparation is all about.  I do not know what is around the corner but the only way I can be as ready as possible for opportunities that may come up is if I am prepared.
Who knows what the future holds.  But I do want to be ready as possible for it.
