Preparation

Well it is time to debrief.  To unpack the game.  Trouble is I am writing this before the game.  First time I have ever debriefed before the event.  Seems like a use of my time.  I don’t know if it is a bad or good use though.
If Queensland lost, “it’s just a game.  There is always next time.  We were up against in in Sydney.”  But if Queensland won.  “You beauty!  Way to go!  Two more for a clean sweep!”  Whichever one is appropriate please imagine we are saying.
To debrief properly I guess I should start at the beginning.  It was a typical Queensland winters day.  Hang on, nothing has been typical lately.  No floods, rain, fire, extreme cold, pandemic.
It was a far from normal day.  It was the way winters used to be.  Still, not a cloud in the sky, cool morning and beautiful day.  A perfect day for State of Origin.  Four more people indicated they were coming.  That took to 13 those that would be at our get together.
I am probably a bit over the top.  I listed all coming and how many pizzas that represented.  I recorded what type of pizzas we would get.  I said to someone this would be Dominos busiest day.  Sure enough, I went two different places in Burpengary and both times there were dominos vouchers.  The three different types we were getting were listed in one special.  We decided that would be used.  I booked.  Sensible me said I was getting in ahead of the rush.  Real me said do it now in case you forget.
I had an appointment at 10:30   It was briefer than normal.  Merril and I needed to buy some supplies and have lunch.  We did all that.  Merril then went and did what she had to do, and I had a doctor’s appointment at 1.  It was a procedure to get a cancer cut out.  He informed me this was an aggressive one.  That did not surprise me as there had been nothing then suddenly it was there, and I could see it.  I guess I am learning to recognise troublemakers.   
I have had a number dealt with in recent times.  My doctor is good.  I loved what he said.  He says he treats patients as if it were him.  What would he like?  He said, and I have seen it, some do the minimum, while others treat patients as people.  Maybe that explains what a mate said to me.  He went elsewhere and says he wondered if he went to the butcher next door by mistake.
Anyway, I had the procedure.  I did not get full head bandage with one eye showing.  Not that dramatic.  I did get a bandage around the wound though.  I though that looked pretty cool.  Except I wear a jumper these days and no one can see my suffering.  It was even worse than a paper cut.
I just do not look when they are doing stuff.  But I always engage at appropriate times in conversation.  We had a beauty.  It was the first time I have ever had to ask something to bring it back to what I had had done, and leave.
I knew State of Origin preparations awaited me.  Merril and I did our stuff and I think all is in readiness.  Merril had time to have a rest.  I think I can have one Saturday lunchtime and evening.  There is so much on.  I really would not have it any other way.  But first there is an Origin to win.
