will be back to Burn Out soon.  I have three more posts right now, but the next is only 318 words. When it is over 400 I will post it 😊
Such a brave brave man.
I am listening to an album by a guy called Bear Rineheart.  He sings vocals with a group called Needtobreathe.  This is a solo album and the name wilder woods is based on the names of his two sons Wilder and Woods.  It is really a love song album to his wife Mary.
I reckon he is really brave to call her wrong.  Then I saw the context and I thought it was so right.  “Baby, you're wrong, If you're thinkin' I would ever want to leave”
It got me thinking or as he would sing thinkin’, there are some things worth committing to.  It does not mean all will be joy and lightness in that activity, but it is worth it.  His context was marriage but mine was broader.
There are so many things that just require sticking at.  Being in it for the long hall.  Angus Young of AC/DC said “We knew when we started we wouldn't be accepted overnight, that it was going to be a long haul.”  They did the hard yards and reaped the rewards.  But we just do not know what the future holds.  Leonard Cohen said, “You can keep the body as well-oiled and receptive as possible, but whether you're actually going to be able to go for the long haul is really not your own choice.”
To me it is the long hall that makes the difference.  I don’t want to be a flame that shines bright for a moment and then dies down and provides no warmth or light.  Sure the 10 minutes of fame can be good, but I read recently something that has stuck with me.  It said we need less limelight and more midnight oil.
I have a friend who has a few big decisions to make.  He is one of the most loyal people I know.  He has stickability.  He is into things for the long hall.  Although stickability is always a good thing, it is not good to have stickability to something that is wrong.  The thing I have found is, something may not be wrong in itself, but it can be wrong for me.
But when something is right for me, stickability is essential.  It is a fact of life that sometimes I ask, “what am I doing here?”  It is important I do not make decisions then.  Decisions need to be made in times of clarity.  I am fond of asking “how can something be wrong when it was right when I decided to go with it?”
I remember in the movie “Stuck on You,” brothers had been joined since birth.  In adulthood they had an operation that separated them.  They were wheeled out of the hospital and both stood to go to the car.  One went into the garden on the left and the other went into the garden on the right.  They had a predisposition, and they were used to always leaning a certain way to compensate.
I have predispositions too.  Aspiring to something worthy is not a guarantee it will happen.  It takes work.  It takes overcoming opposition whatever form it takes.  It takes beating some predispositions.  I need help with that if I am to stand any chance of being into something for the long hall.
