What I am writing about was inspired (I use the word really loosely) by events in federal parliament.  No political party is espoused over another.  What I am writing about I see happening everywhere.  Besides, if I was to declare allegiance to any one major political party, I would probably loose half the people that read this.  To be frank, I cannot afford to do that!
It seems to me, that if a person cannot get what they want because it is seen as a good idea, then there are two other ways to do it.  The first is talk over the top of, and louder than anyone else. I see it all the time on tv, when there is a panel discussing something. I have seen people whose turn it was to talk, just give up.  It is like they are fighting a losing battle.
The other way to get what you want seems to be to just keep on and on and on.  Not succeeding the first time does not seem to matter. Just keep talking, just keep talking (to totally misquote Dory) I have seen what I consider good ideas dismissed, and seemingly bad ideas accepted, just because those promoting it kept on and on.
What I would really like to know though, is what makes those folk think it will not happen to them?  A former politician said something that very much resounded with me.  He said he who lives by the sword will die by the sword.  I see it all the time.  The current political events is very much a case in point to me.  Gillard, Rudd, Abbott, Turnbull and who knows what is next.  It seems in our country those who seize power via a coupe, lose power the same way.
Today it seems, what is best, matters less than what is convenient.  I think it is why we have had so much trouble in Afghanistan.  They measure things in hundreds of years.  The Afghans thinking seems to be, if I don’t get what I want now, I can wait.  For us it needs to be a quick fix.
I guess it ties in with what I heard the other day. Someone was talking about the “Messiah complex.” We see solutions in a person who will fix everything. This person was saying someone may be very good at what they do, but a new roll always has new challenges.  Some are better at adapting than others.  Everything may point to someone being good at something, but there are no guarantees.
Anyway, rightly or wrongly, for better or for worse, in sickness and in health.  No.  Not that one.  Rightly or wrongly, I now have more time on my hands, and the above is what I have been thinking about.  Perhaps I really do need help.
