Planet Confidence

I have been thinking about what I wrote yesterday.  Those that know me know I am not given to complaining.  That is not to say it may not be my first reaction.  But that is not the end of the story.
A couple of illustrations reflect my outlook.  One I have mentioned before.
The one I have mentioned was an old farmer having a son that helped him around the farm.  The neighbour commented “that’s good.”  Then the kid broke his leg and was unavailable to help for a while.  The neighbour said, “that’s bad.”  At that time the king came by looking for troops for his army.  He dismissed the kid due to the broken leg.  The neighbour said, “that’s good.”  The point is, the neighbour had no idea of the big picture.  He stated what was good and bad, based on a limited understanding.
The illustration I do not think I have shared is of an eclipse.  It happens when one planet is in front of the other.  I see things like that with me being both planets.  Sure, on planet Questions (the back planet), I complain and declare big time how I do not understand and how unfair it can all seem.  Yet despite my complaints the planet in front is where I live.  I may not understand but I know there is a bigger picture.
The planet in front is planet Confidence.  The planet behind is planet Questions.  Both planets are me.  Yet planet Confidence is the way I really am, despite my questions that erupt from planet Questions.
Unfounded confidence is wishful thinking.  Founded confidence is an immovable anchor.
There are benefits of such a world view, both temporal an eternal.  My contentment is my choice.  It seems to me some chose to stay at the point of their offence (planet Questions) – leading to unhappiness as a lifestyle choice.  Others it seems (and I try to be this way) see offences as a learning point to be moved on from.
Another illustration I like is seeing my life as a tapestry in the making.  I only get to see the back of the tapestry.  Things happen I do not understand and would rather did not happen.  It is only by seeing the other side of the tapestry where a beautiful picture is being made, do I get a glimpse of what is going on.
I like to think that no matter how bad a situation may appear to be, there is good to be found in it.  I heard of a guy in a gulag prison assigned to work in the scraps.  No one wanted to be close.  Despair was the aim.  Thankfulness was the result.  He experienced a freedom he got nowhere else.
Easy to say but harder to do.  One thing I do know though is that though I may choose to wallow and question for a while, I always come around.
