Phones

I am so embarrassed.  I should be used to it by now.  When I open my mouth on the phone it is often just to swap feet.
Someone called today.  They wanted Merril.  She is up the coast and out and about quiet often.  It does not surprise me this person had not been able to get hold of Merril.  She often answers when I call as it really could be some sort of emergency.  Me being the way I am and all.
When I realized this person had been trying to get a hold of Merril I thought I would ring her to inform her.  What I did not know was I had dialled the person straight back.  If that was all there was to it, it would have not been as embarrassing as it was.  As soon as the phone was answered I said, “are you hiding from (named)?”  I did not know I was talking to that person.  It was not long before I knew though.
I felt about two inches tall.  At that point I decided I should be doing something else.  Today was not a good phone day.
There are some days I really should stay away from phones.  The other day I was phoning for the first time a friend of mine.  It was the wrong number.  I did not know that though.  I did think the foreign sounding accent talking to me was a bit weird.  Initially I thought they just live there too.
I really cannot take all the blame for that one.  I was using a number given to me and it was wrong.  Made for an interesting exchange though.  I am not real good at conversation with a wrong number.  Not like a friend of mine.  They are the only person I know who hung up 40 minute later after dialling a wrong number.
More than once I have gotten two numbers around the wrong way.  Another time I dialed someone I knew and I had meant to dial someone else.  I tried to hide who I was and apologized for dialing the wrong number.  I found out later they knew it was me.  Doh!
This bluetooth speaker thing was a bit of a learning curve.  More than once I dialed someone and wondered why there was no ring tone.  Turned out it was going through the bluetooth speaker which was somewhere else.  They were bemused that I had called them and then did not speak.
Mobile phones and I have a love/hate relationship.  I don’t like that the letters seem so small but I love their convenience and what can be done on them these days.  However there are some days I really should stay away from them.
