Persistence

I really feel like an episode of Hard Quiz. “We’ve gone through their subjects, now let’s go through mine!.  This week I have been really getting into (whatever it is).”
In recent times I have given some thought to patience and this week I have been giving some thought to another p word.  Persistence.
I very much feel patience is needed in live.  I know I recently went on about “want it now, get it now schemes.  I so feel people are robbed doing things that way.  From my time paying off a home I really appreciated the sense of having earned something by waiting to have it when I could afford it.  I chose to go without a number of things while I paid off my home in 7 years rather than the 30 year loan I had.  It was just a printer but I remember so clearly the satisfaction felt when getting it knowing I could afford it.  Today so often some have what they want when they want it and defer the pain.
But lately I have been seeing the importance of persistence coupled with patience.  To me it is a case of knowing what I want, being willing to bide my time in getting it but seizing on every opportunity no matter how obscure it may be.
To me nothing says I want something than availing myself of even the smallest perceived presentation of what I am after.
I like to pounce when I know what I am after presents itself.  In the meantime I pounce on anything that looks like an aspect of what I want.  Not to get, but to learn from.  I reckon there is so much that can teach when I am looking for it.  Particularly from people that have already been down the way I may be headed.
If I want to learn how to fix a car I do not ask a gardener but a mechanic.  Whatever I may be after there are people who have gone before me.  I like to glean stuff from them and be warned about potential pitfalls without needing to go their myself.
For me, persistence is a biggy.  Patience is essential for growth, but persistence is like fertilizer.  It makes what I am after as strong and healthy as it can be.
