People Groups
I do not think I am telling anyone anything but there is a lot I do not understand.  I have never understood one group thinking they were superior to another because of say the basis of skin colour.
It just does not make any sense to me.  Based on what I see, differences have more to do with opportunity than anything else.  When the playing field is level, all perform on a level.  It is true that some people groups have strengths in certain areas that are unique to them.  But it is not like one people group has all the strengths.  All can perform better in certain tasks.  As I have heard said, “no one of us has got it all together, but all of us together got it all.”
From what I have seen it does not matter where in the world I go - Europe, Asia, the Pacific, the America’s and anywhere else, we all bleed red when cut.  It just seems to be human nature that people groups reign over others.  Superior military strength does not make a group superior in all areas.
Although we live in a multicultural society most I talk to would go back immediately to the place they came from - if they could.  Often war, persecution, famine and the like has forced a shift.  Like attracts like.  It is no wonder we tend to see enclaves of different people groups in our society.
I have been looking at history and in every case the best regimes and the ones that last are the ones that seek the best people in the cultures they dominate.  Rather than oppress indiscriminately they dominate then learn.  Certainly they have the power, but power that rides roughshod over those conquered is generally short lived.
Unfortunately in today’s society we seem to have made a rod for our own backs.  We rely too heavily on the immediacy of things, rather than treating something as long term that needs to be seen long term.
Immediacy is good and some things need to be treated with immediacy.  But some things also need to be seen long term.  Results that grow have more chance of permanency than something that is transplanted or overlaid without proper examination.
The best war like societies dominate and learn.  There may be resentment but there is also often respect.  No people like to be subject to another, and all the nations gaining their independence shows that when given the opportunity, all choose to walk their own path.
It has been occurring to me lately that we seem to treat historical artifacts with rose coloured glasses.  If many of the societies were as good as they are made out to be, there is a good chance they would still be around.  Often though, we are examining things from societies that have had their day.  While respect is always in order, I do question if things should be (as appears to be often the case), held up as an example of better.
All people groups have their strengths and weaknesses.  We all bleed the same.  The best I can do is learn from the past and put into place what works for me and is not to the detriment of another.  I must also remain vigilant.  If I am not on my guard, like for any people group, what I have can be robbed.
