Pedantic

This morning I was reminded of how pedantic I can be.
I thought up until this point I had a realistic self-assessment.  I am noble, brave, just, strong, courageous and full of valour right?  That’s the way I am isn’t it?  That’s the way you see me right?  Ok, I am a percentage of those things, and a percentage of other things I don’t want to talk about.
Seeing myself as possibly pedantic had to do with our containers of sugar and coffee.  We have more than two containers.  In fact we have many containers.  It is probably safe to say we have a plethora of containers. We have big ones, small ones, fat ones and skinny ones.  We have a container for every occasion.  In fact, if we were to name our place, it could be called “containerville’” or something in a foreign language that means “the place of the containers.”
Our empty containers are in three places.  The kitchen, a cupboard and our small shed which we call “mini me.”  Why is it that, something once taken possession of, can be so hard to get rid of? Surely “it may come in handy” can only be applicable so often.  Still, the fact is, they do come in handy…
Anyway, that is not the point, one container is for the sugar.  Sugar. It is in everything.  Just about any substance I eat, has sugar in it.  I have cut down on my sugar intake, but it is probably a case of better late than never.  I am always amazed when I see the examples of products, and the sugar they contain.
As I was saying, one container has sugar, and the other one has coffee.  Coffee!  There is no doubt I have too much.  Probably four before breakfast is too many.  A lot of the drinks students have to keep them awake to study, contain copious amounts of coffee.  They are given names that disguise the fact, but many of them contain just enough water to make the coffee a liquid.  One barman told me of a couple of students who were regulars.  He wondered, with the amount of coffee they had, how they functioned at all.  He told me what they drink, and I wondered the same thing.
I was not always this way.  These days I don’t mind being hyper for 30 seconds or so.  I can tell when I am hyper because I change positions.  Translated into young person 30 seconds is like, you know, a life time, right?  Totally.
Now where was I.  Oh that’s right.  Me. Pedantic. Containers.  We have two containers, one which has sugar in it, and one that contains coffee.  These containers are the same make, and sit on top of each other.  I always put the sugar container on top of the coffee container.  My reason is, I would rather have sugar in the coffee, than coffee in the sugar.
There.  I’ve confessed it.  It’s funny.  I thought that would make me feel better than it does.  Another coffee should fix that.
