Patience

If I had twenty cents for every time I heard someone say, “I want patience and I want it now.,’ I would not even be close to rich.  I reckon I could get an iced coffee though.
I actually reckon patience gets a bad name.  It is treated like an “oh if I must” thing.  Yet being the world-renowned cook I am,  my mind went to exotic food stuff.  Sausages.  I will not eat under-cooked sausages.  They are blah and likely to make me sick.  Personally, I would rather over cooked than under cooked.  That is my excuse for my burnt sausages anyway.
Actually that paragraph reminded me of the Australian movie “The Castle,” where the hubby says “this is beautiful love, what do you call it?”.  “Rissoles” she says.  Maybe they did not go straight to the pool room, but a lot did.  I hope they did not anyway.
The thing for me is, patience is needed to get the sausage cooked.  It is not a bad thing.  It is a good and necessary thing.  While I am on a roll with this out there stuff.  Bacon.  It needs to be cooked.
I reckon there is a lot of missing out with buy now pay later.  There are few things as satisfying to me as to waiting and then being able to get something.  I do remember when I lived alone paying off the house quickly.  It meant I could not instantly afford stuff.  It seems ridiculous but I remember the sense of satisfaction having just purchased a printer.  I had gone without to get that thing.
Mostly a printer is a nothing thing.  Then it was a big thing.  Like just about everyone I know do not like to wait.  Yet I know. as hard as it can be to take, waiting is good for me.
One thing I have picked up along the way is waiting can really help me sort out my priorities.  I have found that often I work out what I am willing to forgo in order to have what I am waiting for.  I sort of see it like a sailing ship throwing cargo overboard in order to go faster.  Some cargo I think I want, but realize I do not really need.  And in some cases only when I get rid of some stuff do I see it was eating away at the deck and would have sunk my vessel if it had of stayed.  In some instances, hindsight is a good thing.
It may be hard to bear, but it seems sometimes I give patience a bad rap unnecessarily.
