Party Central

26/5/2019

We did wonder what we were in for.  The unit next door had been booked for the week-end by (and I can only say this is whispered tones) young people.  From the sound of it, it was going to be party central.
We older folk still know how to party though.  Get enough of us together and we will all ensure we have our teeth in, and there is a special place for the walkers.  We are polite too.  Loud talking tends to only happen in short sharp bursts, and it is all over really early.
Merril and I are all for people having a good time and letting off steam.  I mean, every so often a person needs to howl.  I haven’t felt the need as yet, but it could happen.  We do draw the line though at parties going 24/7 or belting out noise at like 2am.
This is the 4th year in a row we have stayed at this complex and the third year we have booked this unit.   We like it.  The complex is only four stories high and we are on the third floor with the 4th floor being ours.  It contains a table, chairs, bbq, spa and li-lows.  We like this place as it has 40 degree views of water.  The place next door is nice too.  They have 30 degree views of water and the rest is the same as we have.
But this place is quiet.  There is a road out the back, but it is so quiet that during the week you could fire a cannon down the street and do damage to a lot of people.  It is not that quiet.
I guess it is an age and holiday thing.  The types of cars that go by are fascinating.  Reach a certain age and table tops are fascinating.  Cars are not the only ones that use that road.  I really don’t know what is wrong with these people but sometimes there are groups of push bike riders that go past early in the morning.  Surely bed is better?
That is not the worst of it though.  There is a walking track that goes by this place that is adjacent to the river and people actually go (dare I say it), walking.  In fact a lot of people do that.  It is when I see runners that I need a bex and a good lay down.  Still, that is probably (and I apologise in advance for using this word) healthy.  They are not the only ones using the walking track though.  There are kids on push bikes that use it too.
Next to the walking track is an open area, and kids are sometimes seen there kicking a soccer ball around.  They generally do not use the walking track for kicking the ball around as that would leave them prone to being run over by kids on bikes.
As for the party next door.  We needn’t have concerned ourselves.  They were not bad at all.  They were noisy at reasonable times and seemed to go out on Saturday night.  Must have been the old fuddy duddies next door.  Me anyway.  Not Merril.  She makes me look like a cradle snatcher.
