Pace of Change

There is an ad being shown on tv at the moment and I do not share the confidence of the speakers.  One says (and another is in agreement) “why do I watch …..?  Because I trust them.”
I trust them to push their own agenda and to not give a balanced perspective on a matter.
What I feel is not so much anger but disappointment.  I feel that no-one is being treated as “think for yourself” people.  Those that agree, are in agreement with that particular line of thinking.  Those that disagree are not heard.
It reminds me of the Ukraine war.  Russia took Crimea and the West did nothing.  No wonder Russia with expansionist plans tried to take Ukraine too.  The West did nothing before so there is a good chance they will do nothing again.  But they were wrong.
What amazes me right now is how quickly things are changing.  Things changed once in a steady decline.  To me it is like change is now happening at breakneck speed like the world has gone over a very steep rock face.
Once upon a time there were reporters that gave both sides of a story and simply reported on an issue.  Now it seems to me we have influencers.  Reports are to influence thinking rather than inform thinking.
I was watching a report today and it gave one side.  It made me think where is the other side?  The other side represented the majority view.  The silent majority.  And to me it is the very silence that enables others to promote their view.  
Unlike Ukraine there is no push back.  And any push back there is, is isolated.  One of the strategies of war is to isolate.  What is isolated is easier to beat.  Opposition is ridiculed and silenced again.
There is one place regularly reported on and I have given up expecting a balanced view.  Not because the expectation was never there, but because the balance was never there.
Unfortunately that is the way I see the media these days.  It does not seem to matter who it is, their own agenda is being pushed.  I suppose that is to be expected when there is no truth but only my truth.  I am big on consequences and am not surprised we have gone over a cliff and things are changing so fast.
