Outcomes

One thing about Spotify is it lets me listen to random music that I may not have heard before.  As a result I have heard a few bands that I have investigated further.  It has lead me to listening to more of what they have done and sometimes review them (it is a thing of mine – when a band gets my attention I listen and look at the words)
This morning a band was playing and the dong was ok but it was the name of the band that got my attention. Love and the Outcome”
It is pretty easy to see why that name got my attention.  I am an outcomes person.  I find it is so easy to say something but it is the doing based on it that counts to me.  I may have mentioned before a family that was waiting for something and they were really thirsty.  Normally that would not be a problem but at that time it was.  Someone saw them and gave them water.
That person could have seen them and said “that’s terrible.” Or “that shouldn’t happen in this society”. Or “I’m going to see to it there are drinking fountains within 400 meters of anywhere.”
There are many good ideas worth pursuing but what matters is now.  Reminds me of a show I have not seen in ages. “Air Crash Investigation.”  When a plane crashes they find out why to help ensure it does not happen again.  That is great and necessary, but it does not help the victims of the crash.  Too late for them.
I really feel the same way about immediate outcomes.  If someone wants water a new car might be good but what is needed right now is water.  So much it seems is offered and given while what is needed remains unmet.  Some things it seems are a distraction only.  They get my attention for a while and all the while the dry mouth remains.
We watched Foreign Correspondent about Myanmar.  Many are after freedom.  It is their immediate need.  There are those standing in the way (namely the military).  They are being offered peace and security.  As long as they do not make waves.  But what they want now is freedom.  Peace and security are important but their freedom is more important.  They are after both.  To them it is not either or.
What makes matters worse for them is many have grown up knowing only freedom.  The military clamp down is a new experience.  Old timers know what it is like.  Many endured solitary confinement and beatings.  They know the road being embarked on although necessary is dangerous.
The outcome of providing love may cost.  It cost the person who provided water time and money.  Love to me is not just about providing it when it is convenient, but when it may be inconvenient.  The circumstances matter less to me than the outcome.
