Out of Sight

I am a great believer in “out of sight, out of mind.”

We have a plant in a hanging basket. Unfortunately the plant has died. Perhaps it was just in the wrong spot as we did all we knew to keep it going. I have been watching it. I found the creeping brown fascinating. There was lots of green. After a while there was not as much green. I then played “spot the green” as it was hard to find. Now there is no green, only brown.

If we don’t get rid of that plant from plain site, it will be what is seen. Visitors not looking for it will spot it. It is then likely to be a case of there’s another and another. Actually, if they found that then good, because I cannot see it.

The thing to me is that because they can see it that is what they will see. If they are anything like me then there is a good chance that will dominate what they will see. It amazes me how when I see what others don’t, it is because my point of reference is similar
.
Take the offending party away and it is not even thought of. For a visitor it is like it does not exist because it was never seen. It is probably a bit like us having purchased a Rav 4. Previously they were just a part of the blur of other cars. Now we see them everywhere. Big, ones, small ones, fat ones, skinny ones, ones that squiggle and squirm. Actually, I have seen none that squiggle and squirm. I probably just have worms on the brain.

We can tell an older one (the spare wheel is encapsulated visibly at the back) and newer ones (the spare wheel is under the boot). To see how new it is, we look at the number plate. Personalized plates tell us nothing about its age.

For me there can be things that are out of sight that should be front and centre. Things that need to be dealt with. Pretending they are not there does not mean they are not there. Maybe when they are dealt with, they can rightly be out of sight. Until then though, it is best they are not out of sight and out of mind.

I really only ever want to draw attention to what I would like to draw attention to. It does not matter what. If I have had a win great (a dead plant is definitely not a win). If I have not, I will work on it.
