Our Street

22/11/2023

We knew that yesterday was our last full day in the unit on the Gold Coast.  We thought we should do something.  Something important.  Make it count.  So we decided to visit our street.  The one  in Berleigh Heads.  The street that comes up on our devices when filling in our address.  We decided we would check the joint out.
It was a bit of a drive but we got there.  We had to get photographic evidence of it’s existence.  It does seem strange though that we do what we can to get away from the street for a while, and then visit it while here.  But we were curious.
It is more up market than our street.  Merril took a picture of our street number and we both got pictures of ourselves standing at the street sign.  Number2 on the corner is under contract so the sign is in the photo too.  A guy driving past thought we may have bought the place and was congratulating us.  I told him what we were doing, and he just laughed and drove up the street.
We then had lunch at Pacific Fair.  Boy has the Gold Coast changed since I was last here in the 1980’s.  It is way more canyon like and many more building.  Pacific Fair was big when I last visited but it is huge now.  After we had eaten, we wandered to a place that was vaguely familiar to us both.  Merril took a few more photo’s while I just wandered about in wide eyed wonder.
We did see a few schoolies in the centre.  It seems that is a hang out joint during the day.  Being further up the coast, and the place where we are staying having a policy of no schoolies has meant we have seen no evidence of it being schoolies week.
That was enough for one day.  We went back to our unit where we slept and read and took notes and admired where we are.
It has been a good time that has seemed to have gone very quickly.  But hey we did what we set out to do and that was to read and veg. in a nice spot.
