Well I think it might be time to change course.
For the last 10 years or so I have worked on the front yard thinking to make it a garden rather than a lawn.  As I started the process and pulled out the lawn I gained solace from the fact the grass was terrible.  I also liked what someone said who was delivering pamphlets.  They had studied horticulture and called the front a “bush garden.”  I thought, “yeah. Bush Garden.  That’s what it is.”
But something was lurking in our bush garden.  Weeds.  Every time we cleared it, they came back to the point where it looked like a good spot for an elephant to die in unnoticed.
We were told mulch was the answer.  So mulch we did.  Still the weeds found a way.  We were told the mulch had to be thick.  I think this was the straw that broke the camel’s back. We put in really thick much.  I mean like at least 10 cm thick.  Looked great for a while.  Then the weed we like least grew on top of the mulch.
We are both over major works in the garden.  We have reached the stage where we are happy for another to do what we would like.  That is, to enjoy the result rather than produce the result ourselves.  Once upon a time no worries.  But that was then and this is now.
So just about the whole front will be cleared.  Then we will have grass laid again.  Better grass than before but mowing seems less time consuming and effort than weeding.
So we are on the look out for someone who will clear our front yard.  We are not in a major hurry and just want it done to ease unnecessary stress for us both.
